Thursday, April 25:
9 AM (Son-Rise Christian Church, 673 Jump Road): WW II Patriot Breakfast- honoring the veterans of WW II and commemorating the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. The breakfast will be a tribute to America’s Greatest Generation. The breakfast program will include Louis Graziano (last living witness to the German surrender of WW II), Jack Hamlin (D-Day Survivor) and Mary Jean Eisenhower (granddaughter of President Dwight D. 2:30 PM (Marshfield Community Center, 110 Commercial Street): The annual Cherry Blossom Tea; Lesley Ann Warren (Cinderella, Rogers & Hammerstein’s 1965) will be the keynote tea speaker and the tea will be “Cinderella” themed. 4:30 PM – 7 PM (Marshfield Assembly of God, 1538 W. Washington): Annual Fish Fry Dinner – benefiting the Vivian Stuber Memorial Library in Niangua. Tickets are $10 per person, pay at the door.
7 PM- “The Spyres Family Concert” benefiting the Ozarks Lyric Opera-Carl and Glessie Young Auditorium (Marshfield High School)-$25 per person (open seating)- The concert will feature an evening of music provided by Sir Michael, Sean, Erica and Tara Stafford-Spyres. Washington): Laura Ingalls Wilder Breakfast- The Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum hosts, “Nellie’s Breakfast”-benefitting the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children’s Literature Festival. The program will feature a panel celebrating the 50th anniversary of Little House on the Prairie. Panel participants will include Alison Arngrim (Nellie Oleson), Dean Butler (Almanzo Wilder), Wendi Lou Lee (Baby Grace Ingalls), Charlotte Stewart (Miss Beadle) and other memorable cast members from the classic television show. The program will feature an interview with Bill Pool (Son of a Union Veteran, Charles Pool-Co. D, 6th WV Vols). Pool is the last known Real Son in the nation and is a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge. He will be interviewed on stage by Tim Pletkovich (Author/Editor, Civil War Fathers: Sons of the Civil War in WW II). Washington): The 3rd Annual Rosalynn Carter Luncheon – This luncheon further celebrates the Cherry Blossom Festival’s sister festival relationship with the Peanut Festival in Plains. Relatives and longtime friends of former President Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter will be interviewed as part of the program for the luncheon. Andrew Greer, eight-time Dove Award-nominated singer/songwriter, and producer will moderate. The fried chicken luncheon will reflect a southern menu.
