Richard
Gatchell (James Monroe Descendent) will be speaking Saturday, April 26 - 2:20 PM Marshfield Assembly of God Gatchell shown here with his daughters Austin & Emory |
Richard
Gatchell in his own words last year... “I am the proud husband of Catherine Gatchell, and the proud father of two exceptional young ladies, Austin Gatchell (14) and Emory Gatchell (12). I live in Baltimore and have worked extensively in the telecommunication field. My focus is on the videoconferencing and collaboration industry, and my primary customer is the Federal Government. In addition to enjoying multiple sports, I’ve become a history enthusiast in my adult years. My connection to James Monroe (5th great grandson) has allowed me an opportunity to investigate history and appreciate the rich background of our relatively young country. I am passionate and patriotic when it comes the core structure and values of OUR United States. The connection to James Monroe has provided multiple teachable moments for my girls. We discuss the importance of the founding fathers and the critical milestones that marked the first 50 years of our nation. We have also come to appreciate the simple things: a respect for our flag, to thank all Veterans, to giving to those less fortunate, our freedom of speech, and the list goes on…... The Marshfield Festival has provided a yearly platform to rebalance my love and appreciation of our country. The grass roots efforts of the people from Missouri provide a wonderful infusion of patriotism and act as a reminder of what makes this country great.” |
